fundamental goal of the federal bankruptcy law, Title 11 of United States Code,
is to give “the honest but unfortunate debtor … a new opportunity in life
and a clear field for future effort, unhampered by the pressure and

U.S.234, 244 Chapter
7 Bankruptcy It is a liquidation procedure, in which the trustee sells the debtor’s nonexempt assets and distribute the proceeds to creditors. Most Chapter 7 cases are “no-asset cases” because there is usually little or no nonexempt assets. The debtor normally receives a discharge, which relieves him or her from personal liabilities of dischargeable debts, about 4 months after the petition is filed. Continue |
